So, I'm waiting in a coffee shop in Norton, OH, for my wife to finish up a rehearsal for a benefit concert that will be held later this month in Latty, OH. I'm supposed to play violin . . . although, I haven't really played for a while.
so, what to talk about . . .
Well, I'm currently between jobs. I worked for a company while in law school that kept me on after I passed the bar exam. Well, more on the bar exam. You're supposed to take this two month long course where you go to lectures (video taped lectures) that last a couple of hours and then do all of these practice exams and multiple choice questions for the rest of the afternoon. I had a professor tha showed us how many hours he had studied for the bar exam. It was in the low 1400's or something.
So, I bought a bar exam study course from a buddy for a discounted price (still over a grand) and intended very seriously to study. However, despite taking a month to study, I spent it laying around. So, when it all came down to it. I didn't study. I just winged it. Well, to be fair, Monday night before the 3 day test began, I did read through 4 of 11 outlines my buddy gave me. but then I just decided to watch tv. So, I didn't really study at all . . . and I passed with a pretty good margin. i didn't break any records, but its a pass fail test. So, I'm not sure whether this story makes me look intelligent or lazy. But it is what it is. I don't think you can study for this test. It's content knowledge about a inch think but three miles wide. The randomness with which questions were asked was kind of amazing. Additionally, I fell asleep during the multi-state portion of the test on Wednesday. But I finished.
anyway, back to whatever I was talking about . . . Oh, right, so I'm between jobs. Leaving a job is always a weird feeling. It's part sad because you're leaving people you've gotten to know over the years, but at the same time, you're happy to be gone. So, I've been training a replacement which has not been going all that well. Actually I've trained three replacements. The two filled in for me on a certain aspect of my job when i was out on my wedding and honeymoon. They were hired from a large firm in a big city near where I work. But, clearly they are not a replacement because they make more money than per hour than some people make per day.
. . . I don't even know where I'm going with this post . . . i used to be more focused. . . . don't go to law school. it will rot your brain and ruin your work ethi
